I HATE MY CONVERTER BOX!!!! I

I HATE MY CONVERTER BOX!!!! I think that is an understatement. Only one thing I hate more than the converterbox... the devil.

It no long shows any stations even after readjusting the antenna a million times. I am ready to throw it out the window but, would be down to watching a snow channel.

I-800# no longer works.. Is there a solution for this crappy product. The company should go out of business because they are the king of scam-artist.

I agree with the other writer I wasted the governments blessing..

Access HD model DTA1030D.

Access HD model DTA1030D. At first did not take seriously the recomandation of the instructions to use RCA audio/video cable instead of just coaxial. With the coaxial I was disappointed with both the picture and poor audio that had a background hum noise. So I stashed the box away for several months. But now the local public TV staion and another local station went all digital early, so I gave the box another try. I could not bear the results again with the coaxial cable, and though skeptical it would make a difference I bought a shielded composite vidio/stereo audio cable and hooked that up. The difference is like night and day. Great picture and sound. But for the sound you have to turn up the volume to max in the box, and then regulate the volume with the TV set. Sound works fine that way. But by all means use composite video/stereo audio cable and not coax. The picture is great, though obviously I can not compare it to other boxes.

I have the Access Model

I have the Access Model DTA1080D and was very frustrated with the loud buzzing. I took your suggestion and changed the cabling to the composite video/stereo cable and now I also have a beautiful picture and sound with NO BUZZING. You are right about turning up the volume to the max in the box and controlling the sound with the TV set/remote. Thanks for the suggestion!!! It really works.

I bought this box a few

I bought this box a few months ago with a $40 coupon. I thought it was a flimsy, inferior piece of equipment, but it would do because I rarely watch network broadcasts.

It gets dangerously hot, so I unplug it when I'm not using it. I think it could start a fire if left unattended.

The box frequently flashes an error message RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN that says something like "Your antenna isn't good enough. Call 1-800-something for information about better antennas".

This is EXTREMELY annoying, because I can see around the small error message that the picture is usually fine.

Unfortunately, a few days ago the digital switchover became permanent, and I somehow lost two digital channels I was getting before. Moving the antenna, rescanning, nothing brings them back.

Whenever the wind blows hard, or it rains, the picture scrambles.

If I watched the broadcast networks more often, I would be angry about this digital switchover, and angry about purchasing this crummy little ACCESS HD converter box. The rabbit ears I used in the analog days got many channels with a pretty good picture. Digitally, I get less than half as many channels.

Wow, I didn't think it would

Wow, I didn't think it would make a difference either, but switching to using the three rca plugs to connect from the converter box of the ACCESS HD 1080D to the television made a world of difference! The sound probably is completely fixed!

I wish to thank you guys: 1.

My wife bought two of these HD Access converters from CVS using coupons. At first try I got nothing!!! Threw both boxes into the closet. Last week I bought new amplified antenna (Terk) and gave another try. Before TV went digital I used to get one channel only on TV and fuzzy at that (my closest transmitters are 45 miles away). I could not believe my eyes - converter found me ...8 channels: ABC, CBS, NBC sport, RTV, 3 public channels, and 24 hour weather!!! But my happiness was premature: every 40 sec or so converter made terrible buzzing noise, as if signal weakens. No matter what I did, buzzing sound stayed. It drove me nuts. I decided to throw this converter out the window and get another one, brand name instead. And then while looking for solution on internet I saw your suggestions of switching coax cable with 3 plug shielded RCA. Boy!!! Buzzing is gone, and now I have a crystal clear reception that rivals cable, with digital quality sound! Thank you guys for saving me from grief...

Ok, I think I finally figured

Ok, I think I finally figured out how to reply..........geeez
Now to my question.........
Could you please tell me how to hook the rca plugs up if you are connected through the vcr. I tried and still have the noise. If I need to hook up to tv directly then how can I do it without unhooking the vcr everytime. I am way to confused so I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

I made the mistake of buying

I made the mistake of buying two of the Access HD DTA 1080D model. I've spent half a day testing and retesting multiple cables and positions for both the units and the antenna and still can't get either converter to work properly. I can only assume that they are cheap junk; inadequate to the task they are advertised for. I also read the company's warranty return and am sure if I sent them back they'd claim there's nothing wrong and charge me another $25 each for these pathetic things. Ripped-off with the government's blessing - that's how I feel. But on the bright side, maybe I'll get more accomplished now that I won't be watching much TV at all.

I have a newer model not

I have a newer model not listed, but it is of the poorest quality. It gets hot, but more importantly it won't store the channels after taking obout 5 minutes to find them. Access solution was to buy their antenna. I don't have the problems with another make on the same set.

The volume on my TV buzzes

The volume on my TV buzzes now that I've attached the box. Volume on the converter box doesn't work either.....disappointed

ive had this box for 2 weeks and have been having trouble with it, it has no sound and all i hear is a loud whistle noice. ive done all troubleshooting steps and now have to return it but its only an exchange for another box that should only be worth $5 not $23. JUNK

keeps freezing up, total junk

decent picture, ok reception but this unit keeps lockig up with solid green screen & humming noise. forcing you to unplug the power to reset it. This access hd converter is of extremely poor quailty. Dont use your Government coupon to buy this because you will be stuck with this junk and out $23.
